The CONTACT-O-MAXTM is an electrically powered, remote-controlled boar cart. Using a remote control, the operator intoduces the boar to each sow, for precise, intimate, nose-to-nose contact. Pheromones contained in the boar's saliva stimulate the female, triggering characteristic reflexes associated with sows in heat (notably the immobility reflex). The operator who is standing behind the sows can then more easily detect sows that are ready for insemination. Heat can be detected 6 to 12 hours earlier than usual.
